Hey all,

A friend of mine recently bought a Wii u and the new SSB4. We played a lot and it was fun as hell, but I quickly knew, that my friend is way better than me. To catch up with him, I would have to buy my own, but at the moment I don’t have to money to do so. But what I have is melee und brawl. Is it possible to play melee or brawl to get better at general mechanics and playstyle for ssb4? And if yes, which one would be better to play for me, melee or brawl?

Thanks for your time =) cya

It depends. Brawl is far more similar to Smash 4 than Melee is, in fact, I'm 99% sure Smash 4 just uses Brawl's engine, except it plays far faster, has different edge mechanics, etc. etc.
If you don't have the fundamentals of the game down, then I'm sure playing Brawl is gonna help you get the hang of it, atleast a bit, it's gonna help you understand the characters better, how they work, roughly what they can do, etc. If you have them, however... I don't think there's much you can do besides getting the game yourself, in my opinion.
