How to play a defensive Falco?

Yesterday I went to a 300+ size tourney and got absolutely wrecked. I was getting hit by people zoning, getting grabbed by people dash dancing, and just kept getting whacked with a lot of attacks.

So far I've been playing a laser-till-safe-to-do-a-SHFFL type of game but it's been failing hard. Now, I've been thinking that by doing too many lasers you sacrifice movement speed and you make your movement too stiff. But then I tried playing a no-laser Falco and got wrecked even harder.

What's the general way to play a defensive Falco?

-Dash towards and away with SHL / SHRL.

-Wall opponet out with auto canceled SH Bair

-Bait out whiffs with empty SHFFLS. (Dash > SH > WL away)

-Shield poke safely with SHL and F-tilt

-DD > Shield > WD OoS.

-Shield drop shine or Bair.

- SHL > grab shielding opponent.

-WL on platz like a boss to bait out an attack then punish accordingly with bair or dair.

-LHDL

hmhm when playing defensively as Falco I just sit back and shl its a good tactic but do know that when you play too defensively you will lose because you need to approach what I'm about to suggest is only if you have the time and stamina and determination. Go to all legal stages in singles and doubles in melee not tourney exclusive but everyone in current use then do as I did and play for an exceptionally long time thinking about every single way they could go after you think of ways to counteract then correct yourself study when you are on break then go to as many tournies as possible learning movements and such of all characters I tried this myself as a human experiment and I would say after my first tourney two weeks after my level defiantly increased ten fold at my first tourney I 2 stocked a fox who had been playin for three years and consistently was able to not get four stocked the only four i had was from a sheik player known as sweet well anyway thats my advice good luck.

It is really hard to tell what your real problem is, a more elaborated explanation (or maybe actual footage of you vs someone) would be helpful.

Don't play defensive or agressive, play smart.
