Have you ever wanted a mode in Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U that enabled you to play Smash as if it were the fast paced Melee or Project M? do you miss Melees iconic stages, music, characters etc.? If so have I got a treat for you! If you follow these simple steps you can do just that!
DISCLAIMER: This is just for fun. In no way do I expect this to be exactly like Melee, but rather to bring back the feel of Melee. You do not need to follow every step. Keep in mind there is no wrong way to do this so try whatever best fits you.
Character Physic's and techniques
- Customize your characters so they all have speed equipment. You can mix and match until you feel they're fast enough. It's recommended to balance out the custom equipment in addition to speed for the best results.
- Try using custom moves that simulate their Melee counterpart.
- If your up to it try using custom moves and equipment to create balanced clones of characters just like how Melee had clones.
- To simulate dash dancing try using the sprinter bonus effect and speed effects with custom moves while dashing back and forth.
- Try using the anchor jump bonus effect custom move to simulate heavy gravity instead of using special smash.
- To simulate L-Cancel try using equipment with the smooth lander effect to minimize landing lag. for more info click here: SHFFL.
- Basically try using custom moves, effects, and bonus effects to help simulate Melee's character physics and techniques.
- To simulate wave dashing try Prefect Pivoting.
- try turning on heavy gravity in special smash.
- Turn on fast speed in special smash, although this may be too fast.
- if you miss Melee characters that never made it into Smash 4 try using similar characters for example for Roy - Lucina or Marth. Mewtwo - Lucario or Mewtwo DLC. Pichu - Pikachu, Young Link - Toon Link or Link. Ice Climbers - Hope for DLC my friends.
Stages
-Try recreating Melee's (and Smash 64's) past stages with stage builder. Here are some accurate blueprints: N64 & Melee.
- If your too lazy to build the stages you can alway download them off of Miiverse.
- For more info on past stage remakes click here: Wii U (Stage Builder) Past Stage Remakes.
- For competitive custom past stage remakes that could be in tournaments click here: Custom Stage Project.
- Use the Melee, 64, and Brawl past stages already provided in game.
- If you miss some of you favorite stage or menu music from Melee you can change it in settings.
- Turn on angled camera in special smash. This is suppose to simulate Smash 64's and Melee's camera but isn't very accurate or necessary.
Controller
- Use a Nintendo GameCube controller. If you don't have a GameCube adapter and you miss the GameCube controller try changing your controller button layout to mimic the GameCube Controls.
I know someone is going to ask "Why don't you just go play Melee?" to avoid a large argument in the comments and so this thread won't get locked I will respond by saying "I enjoy all of the new features in smash 4. In my opinion it is one of the best games is the Super Smash Bros. Series. However I miss the Melee of my childhood. I do go back every once in a wile to play Melee but it doesn't quite meet up to my standards. I came up with this thread for fun. to play the game differently than the conventional 3 stock Final Destination plane old competitive Smash. I want to come up with new ways to play the game so please don't hate."
What do you think? Is this a good idea? Try it out and let me know what you think.
If you have any questions comments or concerns let me know by commenting.
