Hello, my name is Hiram but you can call me Thoughts. I've been coming and reading posts on this website for a LONG time time but I rarely decide to post or even Log In. I've been playing Smash competitively for around 4 years now, and I love the competitive scene. The reason I'm making this thread right now is that lately, the Smash community where I live (Chihuahua, Mexico) has come alive. Everyday I see more and more people that are very interested and very passionate about Smash, making tournaments relatively often and even making challenges to other states. This got me really hyped up and I have decided that I want to do as much as I can to bring these people together so they can get to know each other and have fun, but I also want to make sure the world knows that we exist. So my idea is to start making tournaments that are known, I want every person that likes Smash bros to know about them and assist, and for the Worldwide Smash community to hear from us.
The first tournament I want to make should be on November, for Super Smash Bros 3DS. I want to make sure to give people a month with the game to at least understand it, but not so long that people start asking "Why didn't you just wait and make a WiiU tourney?" So I was thinking about making it on Nov 7, 8 or 9.
But again, I want more than make a tournament. So what I want is to report the results of my tournament for Smashbboards consideration. I'm going to make it a double elimination, custom moves and equipment off. Haven't decided if 3s8m or 2s5m yet, I would like you to give me some insight. I'll consider stages once I get the game in my hands. But I will get enough people to make sure I have a record of EVERYTHING that happens, who beat who, with which characters, on what stages, and with how many stocks remaining.
I'm already looking into a place big enough to rent, last big tournament there were a little less than a 80 persons, but that includes kids 12 or less. So that would probabbly be around 30-40 Still, I know a lot of good competitive players that didn't attend, and I know it could get relatively huge.
I do not have the means to stream this tournament, but after this one I want to make another one for the WiiU version, in which I would make it a two day Tournament, playing the first one until we get a top 8 best players, and then stream every single match for the top 8 the next day.
I've read a lot of guides on how tourneys should work and I'm pretty confident I can do it, the only thing that I don't know is how can I get Smashboards' seal of approval, what can I do to promote my tournament here and who do I have to talk to to make sure the results of my tournaments are considered for Tiering and Matchup consideration?
Thanks a lot for reading me out and I'll take any advice you have to give and will hear anything you have to say (:
