Hey! I made a guide for newer players (and potentially older ones too), who need a guide or refresher on Moonwalking. I find the other guides on YouTube really don't show where you need your stick to be, and when. So hopefully, this will help remedy some timing issues and some speed issues. Sorry for the couple of spelling errors, first guide. I'll revamp this in the future most likely.

Subscribe for potential future tech tutorials! And give it a like, if you want.

Definitely a good tutorial. Making it clear that you can dash in an opposite direction with the angle downwards helps a lot.

Now I've gotta figure out how to slow it down so that I'm not doing perfect pivots half the time :p

Yeah! I had that same problem when I first started moonwalking. I did this guide exactly how I feel learned it, and it seemed to be effective.

There is a typo at 1:44 ("Defaujlt" should be "Default" on the first line of the second text grouping), but other than that, great tutorial!

Good vid :b:. I use almost same method, except I don't do the moonwalk dash at an angle, but instead I don't tap the dash all the way to the side. Both ways are equally valid though.

Empty pivot usually happens to me when I do wrong angle after the moonwalk dash input, i.e you go a little over the diagonal notch. To avoid this, you shouldn't try to slow the input down, but instead aim a little lower, so you guarantee no turn.

Hey this isn't even necessary anymore. If you just flick the stick fast enough you don't have to make the circle or the triangle motion. The stick can travel in a straight line across. I posted about this in the PM threads but it applies here too.

You can't go through neutral though, you turn around.

You cant have a frame in which your stick is in neutral. If you can move fast enough you can register your right to left imputs on back to back frames and you wont get a turnaround.

Actually you can, in two different ways at that.
1) When you want to moonwalk to left, you can first move the stick to around (70, 128) (a bit less than halfway left) for 2 frames, then moving full left after. This works the same way as the method you posted: smash turn requires smash input, and by holding a direction bit below the turn threshold for 2 frames, you no longer "smash input" when you move to full left. This is stupidly hard to do on straight line though, but it's still there.

2) On first dash (dash out of wait usually, not out of turn or another dash), turning is disabled on frames 1-3, so if you immediately move stick to backwards on the following frame, moonwalk is the result. However you can turn from frame 2 onwards of dash out of dash or turn, so this doesn't work for dd moonwalk. This strat is also hard, but I've heard of players who do it. It also yields best distance possible done from place.
