Hi all,

What would you guys recommend me to do in order to be best prepared for a tournament? Do you run through any finger exercises to warm up? I've been playing and practicing techniques to prepare myself so I'm just asking about what to do on the actual tournament day.

Also, is it okay to warm up with other players at the tourny venue, or should I avoid it so my opponents aren't used to the match up? It may sound like I total jerk move but it's my first tourny and want to treat it as serious as possible!

Thanks all :)

You should warm up at the tourney (even if this means playing alone with a CPU or in training mode for a sec). You don't have to play your best, or utilize all of your strategy/tactics in friendlies. If someone learns a lot from watching you or playing you in friendlies, then you're probably trying too hard. I'm not really an advocate of sandbagging, but you're not expected to play 100% power level in friendlies and you probably shouldn't to conserve some energy.

You'll probably have Smashfests going on the day before tourney. I recommend going to those, and you may find that you improve more when it's something outside of tourneys. I certainly didn't get good at Brawl from tournaments, but usually from playing people for countless hours on the Friday before events.

If it's your first tourney, just relax and try to do your best. See losses or down points as places to improve, instead of things to anguish over.
