Just wondering how to get better with Fox's moves and combos...But I'm confused about the wave dash shine. Is there a pause inbetween the wave dash and the shine?

technically, theres at least a frame pause between the two. Anyway, you need to be ready to compensate for the hitlag after hitting with the shine.

if youre just starting the technique, just think in your head "shine, wavedash, shine, wavedash" and you should be okay.

next, always remember to run a little bit after your shine. If it helps think of a rolling motion on the control stick when transitioning from your wavedash, to run, to shine again. (youll be rolling in a downward motion)

I also recommend the sliding method for transfering your thumb from jump to b.

heres a vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyVVu_1XeS0

if anything is unclear just let me know and ill be happy to help.

Kush You've got fast fingers so sliding wont be neccesary unless you want to. But do it on me I'll Spike you into oblivion.

Also-Make sure you practice it into perfection Muscle memory and all.

When you Learn How to do it I'll Help you to practice and incorporate it into your game.

I'm Sure Scotu will be on soon to give you input.

Well, i am on later, but i don't have much input to give you. I try to do perfect waveshines and avoid dashing afterwards if i can (like against marths, etc... you have to dash). and i do it a bit differently that kerp, so if you want an alternate method, here's mine: i don't slide my thumb from b>x, i just press them. Also, when dashing out of a wavedash, i don't roll the stick either, i just jam it. but that's just me.
In terms of shine comboing ppl:
peach: waveshine>usmash is your best friend. once you have waveshining down completely consistantly, you can chain waveshines together that lead into a usmash.
Doc, mario, marth: dash out of waveshine required. jc grab / usmash/ shine work. or a dash attack. just everything has to be jc'ed (except dash attack).
Fox/ falco: waveshine>jab/ dashgrab (thunders/ omni)
luigi: don't try this until you're really frikin good at waveshining. Perfect waveshine>dash>foxtrot>dash attack/ jc shine

REALLY IMPORTANT THING I FORGOT: DO NOT WAVESHINE TO SHINESPIKE. WAVESHINE>USMASH IS BEST, BUT YOU CAN ALSO SHINE THEM OFF THE EDGE AND EDGEGAURD NORMALLY.

So you move the hand quick enogh to jump out of the shine (from the hit lag aswell)...? And I see what your saying (since different characters go different length of distance).

you can check NjzFinest's shine guide sticky. It has all the distances and many of the most common ways to combo characters.

when im bored i like to get a level 1 captain falcon on final destination and just drillshine > wavedash > drillshine over and over back and forth on the stage because it involves shffling and waveshining so everybody is happy. then out of respect for captain falcon i switch the cpu to fox and i pick captain falcon and i knee > knee > knee > falcon punch. captain falcon scares me IRL.

Wow, that's awesome that you have that much respect for CF, i'd never have thought of that. i'll have to try that next time i drillshine practice.

I just have one question. I have seen pro fox users do their short hop double laser? I was wondering if you jump with x/y or smashing the control stick upwards. x___x''

Yes. The answer is yes. It doesn't matter. I do it w/ both the control stick, and sliding from y.

yeah, that's true about the motion of the shdl, but i actually started w/ control stick in order to get the double presses of b down. If hylian ever noticed this thread... he'll go on about the control stick double claw method and how much easier and better it is. It isn't any better/ easier.

One quick question and rate this please (bad -1 to 5 -great). Doing a Dash Shine attack > Up A (ground smash) is that use often to catch people off guard at high percent?

First @ scotu: LOL i saw that post... you and hylian went on and on and all it is is personal style, he just wouldnt quit. LOL

then to kush, 4/5. Get the motion down right and all you have to do to land an upsmash is a dashed shine. But remember, It gets the 4/5 because its situational. Dont go around running and shining with every move you make. Above all, unpredictability is always the best weapon to catch an opponent off guard at any time.

The thing w/ the shinesmash, is that basically it essentially makes your usmash have a 1 frame comeout time. If you're going to use this, you have to do it in an obscure fashion, like out of a dash dance. Why not use it on jumpies?

I'm no good at this technique (because i suck at dash cancelling shines). Does anyone know if it works w/ a jc shine (it's faster, but i don't think it slides as far).

all you want to hear its that, thers no difference between each and oher exept one button more.. thats all u gota do, try to move the stick at 45 degrees so u do a nice Waveshine when u do it, somethims ull be short in distance, but ull get it witht the practice.

Incorrect sir.

Shining before your smash adds at the very least 2 extra frames before your upsmash comes out at its regular speed.

Shine -> upsmash is marginally slower than C-stick upsmash

I don't use this technique real often, mostly just to keep my opponent on their toes. I find it works pretty well if your opponent has narrowly outspaced your shine.

Lol I used to practice like that but with sheik, marth, link, etc. so I can improve the ability of controling the distance of my waveshine as well as the respective timings for each technique(shuffle and waveshine itself). I respect falcon too =P I hope to upload some vids of my falcon soon, maybe next week ^^

BTW I found shine->up smash useful against falco, I rarely use that technique tough

maybe i'd use it if i could dash cancel shines correctly.

Any one know how much dash cancel lag fox has?

The only thing I noticed about the dash cancel is you can't shine in the first dash animation. You have to actually be running with Fox to dash cancel into a shine effectively.

Uh.. now that I've read the whole thread I noticed that scotu said something about luigi that is hard to combo him or something... Oh well actually he isn't most of the most cool combos doesn't work on him tough BUT nair to shine combo still ***** him cause the nair makes him pop up on the air a little and when you shine him in the air the distance is reduced long enough for you to connect with another aerial or attack, yeah I know.. the stun time is reduced but you still can do it If you do it fast enough, one of my favorite combos is: Nair>waveshine>nair>uptilt>upair(or upsmash) and a more sexy version of it: Nair(aim to his/her back)>waveshine(backwards)>nair>up tilt>bair(fast falled)>up air

I've done some bizarre combos on Luigi, simply because you can't combo him like other characters

Drillshine->Illusion->Bair->Fair->Upsmash
