I haven't seen many tricks shared to farm custom parts. Here's a trick I recently started doing since I still don't have all the custom parts.
Me + my brother and buddy have 8 amiibo combined, so what we did while we went out to dinner was set all amiibo to fight against each other.
I haven't tested it enough to know what determines what gets you equip, don't know if it's play time, KOs, damage done, or what.. (data is needed) so I set damage rate high, higher launch rate, giant size special smash, heavy gravity, turned on master balls, big mushrooms, bombs, bee hives. stuff to rack up damage, kills, combos, etc.
anyway each amiibo gets like 12 parts and 3k gold, 8 amiibo is almost 100 parts for a 99 minute match while you're away.

if other people start playing with this, and figure out what ways to improve farming. as I fine tune this I'll hopefully come back and update

Wow, this is great! I got all my items by farming Crazy challenges with Custom Brawler with a homerun bat and quickswing equipt... It took me weeks!

While this is nice for getting gold and equipment, it won't do you much good if you're trying to get the custom special moves.

If you have four or fewer amiibos, take advantage of Special Smash instead. Play 99 stocks and set it to high speed, so that your amiibos will accomplish nearly double what they would at regular speed. Having exactly four amiibos this way can be nearly as effective as having eight the normal way.

The only downside of amiibo farming and auto-pilot Smash Tour is that the equipment you earn mostly has mediocre stats. This is not an issue if you are just starting out, but as you approach your limit of 3000 pieces of equipment, keep in mind that mediocre equipment may be erasing your good equipment.

high speed is a good tip. also, don't do 99 stock, do 99 minute (many stocks happen in a single minute of speed smash!)
