How to extend Tag characters?

Went to my first tournament last month and a guy went into 1 player mode in melee and backed out and he set his tag as "Tech Mage"
but in melee only 4 characters are aloud for the tags.My question is how do you do this glitch? I want my tag to say GREED.

The 20XX hack increases the character limit for tags (I never bothered to learn how to set it up. That's the most I can tell you)
