How to deal with zoning?

I've only been to a few tourneys, but what I've been noticing as I move further into the brackets is that people play a lot more zone-y against my Falco. For example:

-Peaches would float above my lasers, take center stage, and try to get me to trade with their aerials.
-Puffs would either go high and try to punish me when I make a mistake, or they'd shield near the edge and zone with bairs from time to time.
-Marths would use platforms or dash to get me in a position where they can hit or grab me.
-Falcons would waveland onto platforms and come in with knees, nairs, and uairs.

The problem is, I'm horrible on both offense and defense. I don't know any advanced approaches, so I just try to do some zoning of my own with lasers. It feels like, if I didn't zone like that, they'd just take center stage and I'd have even less ground. And a lot of times, I'd just make a mistake, get hit, then get punished. And it's like their defensive play nullifies whatever offense I have and lets them get in some offense of their own with their punish game. It feels like an NBA game where the whole opposing team is full of Scottie Pippens and each person on my whole team is the furthest thing from a Jordan or a Kobe.

Anyone got tips or advice? Thanks.

I can do pre-2008 Falco tech like it's second nature, but I can't do stuff like shield dropping, reverse waveshines, etc.
I advise you to get all the techs down. The only reason to not do a move should be because you don't think is the right one at the moment and not because you can't do it. Dealing with your opponent is trouble enough.

Anyways it seems they're just baiting you to attack first and then punish.
Keep in mind that you don't have to attack first all the time. You got laserz! Falco's full jump goes high enough to shoot Peach out of float. Or double laser with mid air jump. Space her out with bairs and utilt. Punish downsmash with dair.

Here are his high tiered MU's discussed:
