How to deal with get up attacks when trying to waveshine

When I waveshine people across the stage they get up attack so I can't keep shining them. How do I avoid this do I just do it faster?

On characters like puff, fox, falco, that get hard knock down when you shine them, you can't waveshine across the stage, if that's what you mean

if they don't tech it, jab em.
