How to deal with enemy aerials?

I'm a smash 3ds player who is relatively new to competitive play, and I was wondering how to deal with opponents punishing with aerials whilst playing as Little Mac on For Glory. I do my best to not play a predictable Little Mac, nor do I try to be cheap, but when somebody throws me off the edge, I seldom have a good defense against somebody who attempts to spike or hit me with an aerial while I'm trying to recover. Any advice? I also try to stay near the middle so that I don't get thrown off the edge.
