How to cancel phantasm?

I have seen sometimes Dr. PeePee does 2 really quick forward B's in a row. Is he doing some kind of special cancel?

If I had to guess he's probably edge-cancelling his phantasm. When ever you land on the edge of a stage or platform you enter the teeter or fall animation which eliminates the lag from the attack you just did. This would allow for, in the case of edge-cancelling phantasms, to perform another phantasm immediately following to allow for falco to move quickly across platforms on a stage.

Go to Battlefield and practice it. Just run off one of the side platforms and side-B as soon as you fall off and you will ledge cancel on the other one. It also works on PokeStadium. From there, you can learn to just jump to the correct height and distance to ledge cancel when you are recovering or just jumping from the stage.
