Yo guys ! I need to be the best at this game. I just have some months, how do I get the best ?

Ok ok, joke off, I'm not really new since I started playing Melee in 2003 or 2004 when I was a kid, casual at that time. I follow the stream and the scene for months/years now depending of the game, and I just realized (thanks to the community and the Smash doc that I looked at least 2 or 3 times) I wanna try to reach the maximum of my capabilities in Melee, I just feel like I have to do it, really. I feel like PM has no soul, I don't really have fun watching (mimmicks, recoveries etc) and playing, or at least less than in Melee. At the moment I'm praticing tech skills, try to move perfectly on the stage, the fastest possible (because I feel like my hands can't follow my brain when I play a human).
How do you think I should use my time to be very very productive ? Is it really worth to really focus on match-up at first ? Learning by watching top Falcon videos ? Should I spent some money on a PC adaptator (for GC pad) for netplay ?

Also I don't live in US, but hopefully I live in a place where Smash isn't dead. But weeklies are definitively non existent here, sadly.

Thank you guys for answers, and let me know how did you manage to reach a whole new level:)

If you lived in an active area, the fastest way to improve would be to play against human players as much as you can. Ask them to point out habits you're unaware of and ask them about strategies. When you're alone, you could practice techniques and look up stuff online. That's really boring though

I spam this advice whenever I see a post asking for advice. Play Street Fighter online, ideally 3rd Strike. It will teach you to find pattern and predict. Strategy > ability. It's a really fun way to improve without playing against human players in Melee

I would first play Third Strike, practice as Ryu, Chung Li, & Sean first and go from there, the one you are best with will define your play style in smash.

Alternately to the usual Ryu and Chun, play Remy and become a godlike Spamus.

The important thing is to be open-minded IMO
Don't be afraid to discard stuff that does not work
Don't be stubborn about trying to hit someone in a certain way

Earlier in my Melee career, I tried doing nothing but dumb SHFFL nair approaches into enemy attacks
Didn't pay attention to spacing, so I get bopped by anyone who realizes how predictable that is
Realize that what you're doing is not working and find other solutions
That is a really good way to get better fast IMO

Wow, the thread you dropped is so exciting, I'm more determined than ever !

I forgot to speak about my playstyle (for the firsts answers) : in all smashes (even in Brawl) I always played offensively, I like to just go really offensive and try to don't let the opponent even breath.

(Fennel je suis pas intégré du tout à la commu melee fr ^^, c'est un gros point sur lequel je dois bosser)
