How to adjust timing for waveshine

ok, so i have been messing around with fox and falco and trying to learn the tech. while learning to waveshine with either character i can get it while just messing around, yet when i try to actually use it against a character or shield, i always get stuck in my shine. do i try to jump earlier or later than normal? thanks guys

jump later than usual, you have to account for the hitlag. You get stuck in your shine because you try to jump while in hitlag thus it doesn't come out. Hope that clears it up.
