This is always something I've been curious about. I always hear all this talk of input lag and freezing for many people on this thread while browsing the players of FG. I myself, however, have come acrossa total of maybe a dozen people who have lagged considerably out of the 950 FG battles I have partaken in, and I don't even have a LAN adaptor. Admittedly my rig is set up about 5 feet from my router, but connection is peer-to-peer, which means the also person must also have a stable connection. So, I got curious and wanted to know what other people's experience have been with FG. Am I just insanely lucky or is the online connection for Smash 4 just that solid?

I dunno, what's "considerable"? Like affecting performance? Pretty often. Depends who I'm matched up against. I've gotten to the point where I automatically back out when the opponent has any sort of foreign characters for a Tag because I don't want to play a slideshow, but other than that you never know when someone's gonna be bad. I wish they had included a connection indicator.

Very, very infrequently. Even if it does happen, I swallow my pride and get stuck in anyway - lag or no lag, I'm going to play and I'm going to enjoy doing it.

I either have minimal lag or horrible slow-mo unplayable lag. I usually rationalize the latter by assuming the other guy is streaming a bunch of porn all at once.

I'm sure if i got an optimized connection it'd be better but it's not too bad about the same really it freezes right as you're inputting then start back up if you're lucky the input read if not you'll just stand there an extra few frames looking... I dunno looking awesome how's about that.

I almost never experience lag during 1 v 1. When I play Team Smash, however, there will be times where the lag is absolutely disgusting.

Had an odd match with a Zelda/Palutena player the other day. Game lagged every time he/she did a smash attack. Ruined several Lucario counters. Plus F-Smash spammy Zelda's are a pain with any kind of lag.

When I first started playing I had it all the time. Over time, I've found ways to optimize my router so that now it's very infrequent. My biggest personal problem is that I live in an apartment complex with lots of wifi signals, can't use a hard line to bypass this and most modern routers have configurations that choke gaming online connections. I had to use a wifi signal software to find out what channels were being used in the building so I could get on a frequency no one was using (modern routers will lower the speed of your signal when in a 'high traffic' location to ensure better consistency, which made my lag worse. Using channels they weren't relieves this issue quite a bit) and change my QoS settings to make sure the router wasn't giving priority to my phone getting updates or my wife streaming Call the Midwife on her tablet to get everything in a good shape.

Hopefully the next handheld used will work with 5gh network connections, then I can bypass most of this issue. Or buy a house. I'll take that option.

For me, I'd say I get lag once every ten matches or so. I use a LAN adapter and most of my matches are generally very smooth.
