How much longer can PM stand on its own?

After the news about PM ceasing development today I didn't feel too sad about the development ending as Project M already feels complete as the wonderful game it is, but will this affect the game's lifespan? Will Project M still show it's face at majors, be played in various tournaments, and show an evolving metagame on par with the other games? I know that I will never leave Project M, but of course you don't really have a community if just a handfull of people are playing. ;3; I wish for the game to be played alongside the others for just as long as they live.
I wish Project M and the dev team the best~
