without dry hands I can't keep my grip on the analog stick properly or prevent them from sliding over all of the buttons.

A dry controller and a light layer of palm sweat is just about right.
I played with bone dry controller and hands after eating something oily the other week and it was ****.

I apply a thin layer of Glysomed hand lotion before attempting doubleshines, even during a match. I have about a 4:6 ratio of wetness to dryness. I'm about as wet as your grandma after seeing Chris Hemsworth shirtless while performing frame-perfect doubleshines.

I prefer dry hands. No moisture. Sweat on hands usually interferes with that, but a little grease on the thumbs is okay for falco

AS long as it's my typical sweat - sweat from warmth and hand movements, and not from nervousness, I am fine. If it gets too sweaty, I wipe my hand a little on my pants, but that doesn't happen often. Completely dry hands would probably result in some blisters and stuff, but too much sweat results in slippery fingers. My biggest issue with slippery fingers is the joy stick. My thumb will move off of the normal spot when I hit it to the side for something and then it can mess up my next input.

Greasy sorts of things on my hands makes me play very poorly - like grease from food mostly, but if I put vaseline on my hands before playing, I think I would get destroyed. It would make for a hilarious tournament though.

Dry hands are best. A little moisture/sweat from playing a lot of games intensely is fine. Too much though and bad things happen. Not to mention it feeling really weird/dirty (Which then affects my mindset).
