How many more Newcomers left?

So I counted around 23 so far confirmed characters. That list doesn't include Capt. Falcon, Luigi, Jigglypuff, Ganondorf, MR. G&W, or Ness. Even if they all did make it into the game, how many total characters is Sakurai planning on putting in? How many 3rd party characters?

Nobody knows, the estimate is around 30s-40s. But this is just a prediction, and isn't a fact.

Could be well into the 50s.

Melee's super secret character was Mr. Game & Watch, so I expect Sakurai not to reveal the super secret character until after Brawl's release, or maybe never

I'm seriously getting worried about already-established franchises taking up too much of the roster. there should be more brand-new franchises.

Someone told me that a while ago Sakurai himself said he wouldn't update the site with any characters that need to be unlocked until the launch, so even assuming that means Japan's launch, right now we have 20 starters (not counting Zamus as a starter since she's a transformation, not counting pokemon trainer as 3 characters, and assuming that Snake and Sonic will need to be unlocked). That's not too shabby.

There's honestly no way of telling. Sakurai could surpass all our expectations and include 30 newcomers, or King Dedede could be the very last (although i'm doubtful he will be).

You do know King DeDeDe was slated for Melee right? Sakurai cancelled him at the last minute due to time restraints, and being modest about it.

There won't be many more characters to even add from Kirby series, compared to others.

You know, Sakurai might just keep delaying it and we just might have like 300+ characters. Honestly, Sakurai is going to put as many of the big named character in video games that Nintendo can get their hands on. I don't think we can predict how many characters will put in, he might just pull 40 WTF characters out just to throw up through a loop!

Super Smash Bros. 4 is most likely going to have Master Chief and Dante Megaman (If he isn't in this time) and Ryo.

Maybe, but this is Sakurai's last supposive outing for a SSB game.

Therefore I'd like to see as many characters as possibly imaginable. Besides MK:A had 64 characters, and it wasn't that bad. (Around 64)

And the more characters, the more possibilities for My Music, stages, and such.

King Dedede was wanted in the orginal Smash, wanted in Melee and finally makes an apperance in Brawl. He's Sakurai's personal creation that needed to be represented. This very well could be Sakurai's last smash as well as his last chance to use his characters.

I really don't see how 2 notable and important Kirby characters (Is taking up too much space). The Kirby series as a whole deserved to have both Metaknight and King Dedede.

No Sakurai = No Smash, don't you think he deserves to represent his own characters?

I'm little worried about the number of characters we will be having in Brawl. Talking about competetive play and game balance, less is often more. Still, it's always great to have plenty of options to choose from.
