How many initial characters will there be in Brawl?!?!?

I don't know if this thread will get locked since it isn't really an inspired idea, but just look at how many initial characters we know about so far. The count as of right now is 19 (18 if you count Samus/Zamus as one character). I'm willing to bet that we haven't seen all of the initial characters yet, either. Does the Smash Bros. series have somewhat of a greenhouse effect? Every installment, more characters are added, and few are actually taken out of future installments. What happens years from now when we get to Super Smash Bros. 6? How many characters will be on the game then?

Anyway, we have 19 characters. In addition, we've seen F-Zero, Earthbound, and Animal Crossing logos. Let's say for a moment that those franchise have at least one initial character in Brawl. That would bring the count up to a potential 22 initial characters. That's just a few characters shy of Melee's final roster.

I wondered what the character selection screen would look like under if all of the characters that have been revealed so far are the only initial characters (even though we know that's probably not true) and the 3 franchise that have logos but no characters. I made what I feel is a fairly accurate representation of the exact look of Brawl's character selection screen with only those characters.

Almost thought it was real, didn't you? Anyway, how much bigger will this screen get?

No more characters will be announced. That is the final roster. That means no Luigi, Jigglypuff, or Captain Falcon.

BTW: I really DID think that was the real characters select screen! It looks like you spent a lot of time on it. You sure fooled me!

Yeah, I see what you mean, but how do we know for sure that all of these characters are initial characters? For all we know, some of them may be hidden characters. I don't think Sakurai would reveal hidden characters so readily, but you never know.

im sure that there will only from 40 to 45 charcters then they will most likely start to slow down on the character updates but then again there could be 49 sakurai just said that their wouldn't be 50

also i don't think that they will make a super smash bros. 6 maybe unitl 5 even then thta will be a strech but that roster looks so good i can't wait

Snake is not an initial character. Sakurai has stated that Third-Party characters must be unlocked.
That's why Snake isn't anywhere on the website.

When did Sakurai say there wouldn't be 50? (even though I think that amount of characters is a bit absurd; I just like to know where people get their info is all.)

i don't remeber i heard about it some where well i could be wrong still 50 will soon start to seem like we are playing marvel vs. capcom 2 oh well if they do they should and birdo and petey
