How is the stage selected in online mode?

I was just thinking about it and I'm not sure how stage selection goes in brawl online. Does it randomly choose a stage for you?...because that would kind of suck . Also, for those of you who have played it (especially if you have a dsl connection), have you experienced any lag online?

Unfortunately I haven't been able to play online yet. I can connect to the Wifi fine, but I can't find any opponents in the "Play With Anyone" mode.

Basically when you start a match it works like this.
1. Select Character
2. Select Stage
3. Wait for others to connect.

Everyone will pick a stage and then the game will use a lottery system of which stage (out of the ones everyone chose) will be played. It's also the same for which items will be used.
