How do people count frames and use that to their advantage? How do people calculate a move like that?

Guys, he's not asking how to get frame data, he's asking how to use frame data.

Basically, just need to have a feel for how long a frame is in-game. If you know that your dash attack comes out in seven frames, you need to be able to intuit how long that is, and see if you'll have enough time to hit him before he recovers from his endlag and shields it.

Just as a rule of thumb, Smash runs at 60 fps, so a move that comes out in 10 frames comes out in a sixth of a second. Use this formula when trying to find out how fast a move comes out in seconds- x/60 where x equals the frame it comes out on, and using this, I'm pretty sure one could find out how long a hitbox stays out. I don't know how useful this is to you, but use this how you will.

Are there any links to frame data that is not necessarily an attack? Like what frame a shield comes up and drops at, or all the ledge get up options? Also, any one have frame data for taunts? Not that it will be useful in a match, except maybe for luigi :smirk:
