How do you perform Peach's L.I.F.T. Tech?

Also known as Ledge Instant Float Technique! I remember doing this in Brawl, but I seem have troubles doing it.
Can anyone tell me how to do it properly? Thanks!

Just Press the jump button then hold down and you will float on stage. The same way you do it in brawl is the same way here.

Im picking up peach in this game and im a little confused by this. I think I'm making this harder than it is.

All it is is floating after a jump off the ledge so you're floating a little bit off the ground?

What are some of the applications for this?

Yea, that's it.

And in this game (least the 3ds version) It just nearly pointless. In brawl when you did it, you was invincible for 10 frames. If you did this and then landed instantly, would be invincible for 7 frames. In this game you don't gain any invincibility. Also you don't float as close to the ground as you would in brawl.

Well, floating in conjunction with a turnip in hand gives you more options for edge guarding, as well as spacing out your aerials.
