How do you L-cancel Marth's dair?

I've been playing Marth for a while now and I still can't seem to consistently l-cancel his dair. I'm sure it's the timing but sometimes in Training Mode it feels like it's nearly impossible. What's the best way to do it?

The only difference that makes the Dair harder to L-cancel is the abundance of hitlag on a shield or opponent. I'm sure you find it quite a bit easier to cancel most of Marths other ariels due to the fact that the time in which he lands isn't as affected by landing a hit.

There is no difference in L cancel no matter what aerial you are using. The thing is that dair is laggy, so l cancelling it will still be longer than the others. Also it's harder when you actually L cancel off of a hit. Just practice.

practice on lv1 bowser with lv9 handicap and damage ratio at 0.5. just short hop dair l-cancel until you can do it every time 20 times in a row.

Yeah what djmath said is good for practicing on hitstun. You can also take that same bowser on the top platform of yoshi's and practice uairs.

its easy to inadvertantly fast fall while you input down air on your gamepad, so this makes the window for l cancel input smaller than the other aerials. I dont know if thus is your problem but I used to have trouble with this

You may be having the same problem I used to have, the fact that his legs move up during the animation. This used to throw me off, because I used to L Cancel on visual reaction instead of internal timing. Just play around while looking very closely at Marth during the Dair, and you'll get used to the timing and internalize it.
