What are your training methods for this game? I want to know because my regimen is seriously lacking and I'm suffering in real matches because of it.

As for me personally, when I'm not losing in For Glory, my "lab" is Omega Flat Zone 2. It's a neutral-looking environment with the bricks as a highly visible measuring stick for attack range, like P:M's training room. I don't really know how to make the most of lab training, though (thus, the thread).

I beat the ever living crap out the CPU for warm up in training and when I discover a new tactic, I take it online against real people.

Play people, get mad, learn to beat people, then play more people... rinse and repeat. CPUs aren't all that much use anymore unless you're trying a new character.

Yeah for now I have been on CPU because I am always trying something new with the way I play. But you are right, CPUs are not that useful to get actual training on.

CPUs are pretty good to know how to deal with people that spam airdodges.

I go learn the moveset and recovery against CPUs, then I hit online and if I lose play that same person until I win or they leave. Usually takes me 2 matches after I drop one to pick up what I'm doing wrong and carry it to the next MU

I go onto online and start doing dittos with people. I then learn new techniques and become a better player.

I spent a while doing doubles with a Ness and learned a lot.

Playing vs lvl9 CPU or online (only 1vs1). When I do a interesting match, I save the replay and I watch it later.

Saving and watching replays of games I lost to analyze my mistakes. Actively try to get new approaches if things go wrong. Maybe sounds too obvious, but I know a lot of people who will try the same stuff over and over again while failing.
I try to adapt to new opponents instead of refining set combos or smth.

I'm pretty casual but, I hit up training mode and get used to controls/physics for this particular smash. I try to get all the jumps/tilts into muscle memory and remember the range / speed / power of whatever character's skill set I fancy at that time. Sometimes I try new characters to learn their skill sets and understand how to fight them better. Then we hop into online mode and play, if it's not too intense - experiment or set small goals (like landing spikes or practice whatever I'm bad at), if it's a struggle then I play seriously and save the replay data and look at it after I cool down.

Play against level 3-5 CPU's, since that's how most of my friends play.
And, of course, online matches.

I personally just play online matches and learn techniques by adapting to how my opponent fights. As of Friday, I was losing every round. But at this point, I'm winning almost every single one. Playing against humans is so much better than CPUs.

Training with CPU's won't make you any better.

Play online and find someone who completely bodies you, keep playing them and you'll naturally improve if you care about your record(i don't see why anyone would give a ****) then be prepared to lose a lot.

Can't get better if you win all the time.
