How do you get out of grab pummels?

I'm so tired of getting grabbed by ness, mario or fox and punched over and over and being thrown. How the heck do you get out of grab punches. Every time I do it people can get out right away and I'm doing it pretty fast, I don't understand. I'm mashing buttons and doing whatever I can to get out but nothing works, is there a specific button I press or something? I have surprisingly never heard a single person ever mention how to get out of it.

Are you talking about grab pummels? The duration of how long you're grabbed increases as you take more damage. If you're at a high percent, it'll take longer for you to escape. There's no specific button, I don't think. Just mash.

I just got grabbed and hit like 10 times by Mario, who has a slower pummel, I was at highish percent but still that is ridiculous

10? even at 100%+ ive never been able to land more than 5 before they break out.

Advice though is to not hit the attack buttons if youre over an edge. Ive died many times becaise i break out and immediately do a slow attack, falling to my doom.

Spin the stick and press all the buttons.

I'm not sure but, I think that the 3DS can take One Input from the stick and Two button inputs at once.
So try to get 3 inputs every frame. The game runs at 60 frames per second so go as fast as possible.

Can somebody more knowledgeable of the 3ds hardware and/or grab techs correct me please?

In every Smash game I have played, I just wiggle the control stick as fast as possible. Apparently you can also press buttons too. Although, getting out of grabs on the 3DS version has been a pain for me, since I don't want to break my circle pad.

I've always wondered this as well. Thanks for the information guys. Escaping without breaking my thumbstick is worthy of my attention and practice time
