I was always wondering, how do you add friends?

You need their 3ds friend code in the friend menu on the 3ds home screen

the home screen on 3ds is where you can select different games, you should see a smiley face. on the Wiiu it's the same process.

You can also send a friend request after a fight by looking at their profile in the results screen on the Wii U version.

All in other words... this is the home screen. (the old version)

Press the home button on the gamepad, go to Friends at the bottom, somewhere in there is an option to see your match history where you can find people you played.
