Find a tournament near you and sign up! All you have to do is show up, pay your venue fee and entry fee (likely around $5 each) and play! If it's your first ever tournament, let people know and someone will likely be more than happy to help you through everything and teach you the basics of tourney play, such as stage banning, counterpicks, etc.

If you do not know where a tournament near you is, check Facebook for a local Smash page. Most areas have one, and they update with upcoming events often if they are run right. Of course, also look though the Tournament Listings here on Smashboards and see if anything has been posted!

I mean yeah, do what this guy says. It's the best way to find a local scene near you, and even if you can't find any locals around there, if you have a good and accessible computer and a gamecube controller adapter of almost any kind, you can try Dolphin Melee Netplay. Basically Dolphin is the emulator for gamecube games, and it has online services so you follow the directions to download it and you can practice. It's a little tricky to get it installed TBH, but I thought it'd be an option to tell you nonetheless.

Also, given your certain history on Smashboards and our personal experiences together, if this is the kind of experience you're looking for, then I would like to tell you that only 1v1 matches with no items and fair stages is the norm of the community, not any other ruleset. Just, FYI.

make sure you wear deodorant and bring your own controller, the most important things.
