I've been adding some custom stages to my P:M build again and I've run into a slight problem. I realized a long time ago going through the common5 and the mu_menumain that some stages were missing SelmapMark and SelchrMark textures. My first guess is that those stages use another stages textures to save space, however, I saw that it's possible to add textures for custom stages and even P:M added a SelmapMark and SelchrMark to the Training Room stage and a SelchrMark for Castlevania.

Unfortunately when I tried to import textures myself under the name MenSelmapMark.57 since I was replacing Big Blue with a custom stage, it didn't load it in game. Is it just impossible to do so, or do I have to do some additional coding or editing of some sort to have the game load that texture for that stage.

I hope I'm making sense. Any help would be appreciated.

You need to tell the animation to load the symbol. Go into the AnmTexPat folder of MiscData[80], and open MenSelmapPreview. The Entry called "lambert113" controls MenSelchrMarks and the Enrty called "pasted__stnamelogoM" controls the MenSelmapMarks. Open the one you want to add, and right click on "Texture0" and click on "New Entry". Find the new entry that you added, and rename it to the name of the texture that you imported(MenSelmapMark.57). You then need to click on your new entry and look in the PAT Texture Entry box on the right. Change the FrameIndex number to the index number of the stage that you want to display the icon(in this case, 57). Save, and it should work in game.

Couldn't you also use Brawl Stage Manager to assign certain icons and marks to certain stages?
To be honest I put everything in myself and haven't tried using Stage Manager yet. I find Song Manager useful occasionally though, so maybe I should give it a chance.

Thanks Lakitwo, very useful information! I'm sure I'll find some other interesting things messing around in there as well. I'll go try these tips out and see what I can do.

I tried doing that with it, the game ended up telling me all the SSB64 stages in my build were from Mega Man.
Because you replaced the original icon with the megaman icon, which affects all stages using the original icon. That's the only drawback of the program I've encountered.

I put a thing in Stage Manager called "Add MenSelmapMark(s)" in the Tools menu. Despite the name, it works for MenSelchrMarks too. Once you add them, you can change a stage to use the one you just added with the "Modify PAT0 mapping" button.
I ought to think of a way to make that more intuitive. Any ideas?

I hate to bump up an old thread, but I am having a similar issue to the OP. Since using the Stage Expansion template, I have added in stages for series that did not have icons in vBrawl (Golden Sun and Mega Man). I have successfully added new MenSelchrMark icons for both and they show up as they should in the stage select screen; however the old MenSelchrMark icons that occupied those stage slots still appear in My Music.

How do I change it so that the new icons appear in My Music as well?

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. I had to do what was outlined in Lakitwo's post, but in mu_menumain.pac.
