how do u throw a grenade upwards

i was just recently watching psycho ******* tech videos, and i noticed he throws his grenades straight up in the air, ive been trying to figure out how, and i cant. im sure its very simple, i just cant figure it out.

Press Z to drop it, pick it up like an item and voila.

well that's if you already have it picked up like an item but if you want to pick it up as an item you have to...

Hold B -> Shield -> Unshield -> Pick grenade up

this will allow you to move around freely as if you were caring any other kind item.

Odd, whenever i hold B and press Z he drops it like an item.

Oh wait, my Z is set as Grab still so he does the grab & shield animation so the shielding does take place.

just in case you are wondering.

once you pick it up like an item, you can throw the nade down and it will bounce up like an exploding tennis ball =D
