How do .rels work with ASL?

I know Port Town X is based on Battlefield. But as a result, I'm having trouble adding Port Town as the alternate stage.

I tried adding a Port Town to Battlefield .rel just to see if that worked and the game freezes. Is it just impossible to add it as an alternate now?

I keep getting my question answered within minutes..
