I don't like the alternate costumes that they added (I just don't like alternate costume period), I prefer to have palette swap instead, it makes the game for me less ''fan maed''.

Do I need a program to correctly remove the alternate costumes from each character or I can just delete some of them right from the SD card? I'm fairly new with brawl hacks.

Uuuuh dude its exacly the same controls as switching colors in the real brawl game. Besides you do not start with the alternate costumes you always start with the regular color

Why do you need them removed? Are you trying to replace them or something? If you don't want to use them, just don't use them.

If I can't just remove them, I'll have them replaced by some other palette on brawl vault.

A little help would be appreciated.

In theory you should be able to remove them quite easily in a few steps, lets use Bowser as an example.

First go to - (Drive):\projectm\pf\fighter\koopa - then remove both FitKoopa07 which is the costume.

Next use brawlbox to go into your common5 located in : (Drive):\projectm\pf\system, now open ``sc_selcharacter_en`` then ``char_bust_tex_lz77`` and finally you will need to locate the character, in this case Bowser is 11, all you need to do here is delete the CSP of the alternate ``MenSelchrFaceB.117``.

Finally use brawlbox and go to : (Drive):\projectm\pf\menu\common\char_bust_tex, locate the file you need to go into, in this case 110 is Bowser, proceed to delete ``MenSelchrFaceB.117`` again and you should be done with Bowser Alt.

Here are the number associated with the other character you will need to go into for the second and third step : Mario 0-0, Luigi 8-80, Peach 12-120, DK 1-10, Link 2-20, Toon Link 40-400, Meta Knight 21-210, Fox 6-60, Falco 18-180, Wolf 43-430, Ness 10-100.

I personally like the alternate but its your game and your choice, hope I could provide some help and don't hesitate to ask if something wasn't clear.

Bear in mind that if you choose to remove the outfits without replacing them, any time you cycle over an alternate outfit in the character selection screen your game will freeze since it will try to read a file that no longer exists. That being said, I do not know if a regular model replacement would work over an alternate costume slot, but I suspect it would. The new costume would probably have the old one's altered effects though, such as Shadow Queen Peach's darkness effects instead of hearts for Peach Bomber and her up-tilt.

I've done what you told me but when I cycle through the palettes the game freezes where the costume would have been like ''I Myself'' said. Is there anyway to fix this issue or I must not cycle through there?

All you're doing is deleting the visuals associated with the character, and not the character itself, who is fully coded into the game at this point. You'd have to sift through the entire codeset and manually delete the part that adds an extra costume to the game. Good luck with that (not really). Why would you need to remove them?

If you really don't like the new costumes, then replace them with costumes that you do like. There's nothing negative about giving characters extra slots for new costumes.

Like hotdogturtle said, the easiest way to avoid a crash is to replace the alternate costume with an alternate color instead.

For example, you could replace FitPeach06 (Shadow Queen) with a regular Peach model that has a purple dress (or whatever color you want, I just like purple). Like I mentioned before, she might still have the darkness effects instead of the heart ones (I'm pretty sure that's coded in as part of the extra costume slot) but she would look like regular Peach in every other way. You can replace the character selection portrait for an alternate costume in the same manner.
