Smash 3DS How do I play with tap jump off?

I hear a lot of people turn it off so I was wondering. How do I short hop and stuff like that with it off? I have a small 3DS in case you needed to know.

Tap X or Y lightly AKA the easy way

I mapped Jump to the B button and special moves to the Y button. When I want to do a SH anything, I slide my finger from B to A to SH aerials, or to X for SH specials.

Main Menu > Games and More > Options > Controls > Lower left corner = Tap jump on/off

EDIT: Lightly tap the Jump button + input a vector upon doing so = short hop.

Thank you. I assumed everyone knew I already had it off. I am just asking how to perform certain tech with it, like how you can drop a little from the ledge and then jump back onto the stage like in melee

Yeah edited my comment to reflect that. Sorry that I thought you needed to know how to turn it off. For dropping off a ledge as you grab it I smash input down with the circle pad, then jump, and do an attack.
