I want to create images for my SSS. because the stage I downloaded did not come with images. How do I make them properly? I know the resolution has to be very low so the game does not freeze (that's what happened when I tried) so how do I make them properly? Thanks.
The small stage select icon (the one with the border), is 64x56px (including the boarder). The dimensions Kati gave you are for the large previews.
Here's a transparent border icon for your editing conveniences .
Yes Xermo is correct. SSS icons do not vary in their resolution while sss preview pics do. If you want to make coloured borders for the icons I highly recommend making them thicker than the default black line. They will be visible on every tv you hook up to that way.
1. Go into Special Brawl and select Clear only.
2. Set the match to a timed battle and have only yourself in the game.
3. Select the stage you want to make icons for.
4. Wait for yourself to become fully transparent and then take pictures accordingly.
5. Save those pictures on your SD card, they'll be under the AL folder under projectm
6. Download bintojpg and convert your pictures to .jpg images.
7. Use any editing software, I use pixlr.com for simplicity sakes and crop your preview icon to the dimensions previously stated. (save as a PNG file)
8. Resize that image to 64x56 and use the border Xerno provided to make your SSS icon accordingly (save as PNG again)
9. You can go the extra mile and make a Random Stage Switch Icon, which is 128x64 (save as PNG as well)
10. Go to tinypng.com to reduce file size of your new icons
11. Download Edo SZ font and Brawl Stage Manager
12. Open Brawl Stage Manager and find the .pac file of your new stage, replace icons accordingly
13. Save your changes (the common5.pac will be saved only, you can also overwrite mu_menumain as well)
14. Open BrawlBox and change the RSS icons and stage names if you plan to do those
15. Test in Project M to see if everything goes smoothly, if the common5.pac is too big, then it will crash. I've had issues only with the Bowser's Castle stage icons and Pictochat but otherwise you should be fine.
Thanks so much SmashBroski, I got it all up and running perfectly.
Would you happen to know how to access the brawl csps/bps? The ones that originally in brawl that say inffacexxx.brres: not?
I'm trying to get the Ike infface336.brres: not and it's not in the PM folder with the rest of them (I'm assuming this has to do with it being from brawl)
If it's easier, how do I modify the csp to look to look like a bp?
Any help would be great.
Download Brawl Costume Manager
Open the pf folder of your custom build
Pick the fighter whose portraits you're going to replace and replace accordingly
I'm not too familiar with costume replacements - I only just got into it and wanted to replace skins for one character so it's a little vague, apologies.

Yeah I have checked out that guide and I've been using the brawl custom manager. My problem is trying to replace the results screen image and bp image of a char using a default brawl costume, thanks for your help though.
