How do I get this good?

I don't mean to brag, but I find myself pretty good at Smash. Boy, I was wrong. I'm playing online and I'm shocked by how good some of these people are. How are they so good you ask? They predict what I'm about to the 3 seconds before I do it. That's impossible of course, but that's how it looks. I don't understand how people can obtain such a skill.

I think my problem is dodging too much. Do it enough and you can pick up the pattern and cut it off.

You're probably playing in a pattern. It's not hard to read patterns, especially if you know how characters play. Do things they don't expect.
