How do I edit the stage select menu?

I have Project M on an ISO. I know how to replace stage files, but I don't know how I'm supposed to edit the stage select screen itself.
If I enable Ocarina and try loading the gct file I create with SSSEditor, the game fails to function properly: no characters are unlocked and the stage select crashes the game.

If you used one of the ISO builder tools for Project M, then more than likely it has the GCT built in, meaning trying to enable Ocarina or use another GCT will crash it.

To edit the icons on the stage select screen, use BrawlBox to open common5.pac, and the icons are located in sc_selmap_en > MiscData[80]

Thanks, but I'm not asking how to modify the icons. I want to know how to add levels to the list itself.

ah. Did you use one of those ISO builder tools? If so, then the only way is to start with a fresh Brawl ISO, and modify the GCT file and add the stages before building the ISO into Project M. You can't do it to an ISO that's already been built, since there's no longer a way to modify the GCT file.
