I really enjoy playing melee, and although I like it, I think I enjoy being a technical player more than a player with good fundementals. What are the techniques I should learn to become an incredibly technical player? I main Falco only, but I have been dabbling with fox a bit.

So you want tech skill for Falco? Learn the fundamentals…sorry but that's important. Learn to l-cancel, tech and roll, shield grab, short hop, FF, SHFFL, etc.

After you get those down, some specific Falco tech skills include multi-shining, pillaring, and SHL. Learn the matchups, stage counter picks, how to react and employ these techniques.

Let me know if you want something more specific...you were kinda vague. This is a great tutorial so check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_CrTWvKpRQ

Basically I want to replicate dark but for Falco. I have all the fundementals down to the point where it's muscle memory, so I'm just looking for Falco advanced techniques. There are some in the guides, but not all of them and they are spread out.

Edit: found this. Should be useful

Watch westballz, he does some flaahy stuff. Learn how to shine bair and shine dair, westballz shines (double shine waveland down (they're kinda unsafe but look cool as hell)), waveshine onto a platform and have the waveshine throw you off the platform as you carry your opponent up with the shine so you can double jump dair and continue comboing, get fancy with wall jumps, juggle with weak uair.

Being fancy with Falco has a lot to do with not dropping your combos so you have to know some fundamentals but there's no ceiling with what you can do.

I really want my waveshining to be 100 % consistent. The only way to do this is to just grind it out every day right?

For those of you who can do it every time you try, how long did it take you?

I believe that you just need to grind it out. But I'm with you, I need to figure out a way to get mine to 100%.

Practice waveshining backwards without turning around, waveshining with intentionally turning around. Most of the time waveshines are flubbed are from shine turnarounds as there's a 3 frame animation for turning around in shine which can screw you over.

Yeah I really struggle with the waveshine backwards. It's hard to make myself jump before tilting the control stick consistently and without my character leave the ground.

Also, do the same thing but for shine wavelanding.
