How do competitive brawl players feel about PSASBR?

I realize this might not be the right place to make this topic, but I can't think of any other sub forum here where this fits in more and I really want to see how the competitive community feels.

Anyway, I am referring to Playstation All Stars Battle Royale, Sony's take on the party brawler genre. CLASHtournaments and Chibo (?) did a segment on this a while back but since then thanks to E3, we've gotten some new information:

-1 vs 1, 2 vs 2 etc. modes have been confirmed
-stock mode is confirmed
-being able to turn off items and stage hazards/interactions has been confirmed
-supers confirmed to be the only way to kill (the game will NOT feature a health/percent mode)
-FGC members have played the game and given positive reviews, the game will be featured likely at this year's Evo (according to the game director, Omar). It will likely be there to show off more characters/get more input from tourny level fighting game players.
-the devs. are constantly making tweaks to account for balance

So to all competitive brawl and smash players, do you see yourselves possibly playing this game competitively in the future? Also, if this game once again opens the door for party/platform brawlers at Evo, do you see Smash being featured there possibly as well?

BLANTAT RIPOFF OF SMASH SERIES!!! SUx GET OWN IDEASSS!!1

Seriously though I'm intrigued enough to try it out.
The developers seem to actually care about the competitive scene unlike some peeps >.>

Haven't seen any characters I actually like though. Although Twisted Metal SweetTooth brings back good memories :D
Sony doesn't really have iconic figures. Crash Bandicoot? Spyro? going off old school PS1 :D

Don't worry, there are a lot more characters to be revealed.

Crash and Spyro are the most requested characters so there's a strong chance they'll be in. I just hope Activision doesn't end up being jerks.

Sony or rather PS certainly has iconic figures. Other than Crash, Spyro you've got Lara Croft (now 3rd party), Cloud (owned by SE but iconic for ps1 and PS in general), Solid Snake (3rd party but mostly known on Playstation) etc.

Speaking of Snake, he's all but confirmed for the game. There was a Twitter leak where a VA talked about working with the voice actor of Snake for this game. It'll be interesting to see how his moveset differs from brawl.

Hopefully there will also be sly, Kratos, and that dude from uncharted
All 3 are already in and there is video footage of all of them in action. Kratos and Sly were among the first revealed. Drake was revealed at E3.

I am really interested in how Sly will turn out when good players use him because he has an interesting mechanic. He can't block at all but he can turn invisible.

I'm probably going to move this to a different subforum, but I'll take a day to think about which one.

Idk if it belongs in General Brawl or Light House tbh

General Brawl as it is definitely worth considering about rather than the light house, as they might already have a thread for the game. Or it just stays here. *shrug*

As for this game, it doesn't exactly feel right. It sounds blunt when you say that supers can only kill, but i would still consider trying it out nonetheless.

Light House has a PSASBR thread in it. Maybe merge this into the LH thread, and redirect to it from here?

I think the game looks awesome and look forward to other games that are in the same genre of smash. Definitely approaching this game with an open mind.
Lol same.

At first I was skeptical about the super only kill system but I see now it could definitely work out. After all, many probably would have been skeptical about the percent system of Smash before experiencing it.

And anybody that's a fan of Smash bros is a fan of the platform party brawler genre so there's no reason not to try this out. Who knows, it could open the door for party brawlers becoming more "mainstream" in the competitive sense.

It looks strange but I guess I'll end up trying it ... as long as it has either Ratchet & Clank and/or Jak & Daxter. Though I don't have high hopes for it being competitive.
Popular FGC members have tried it and liked it. Omar said it is going to be likely featured at Evo. Lastly, pretty much the entire cast of the devs have a strong fighting game background AND some of their consultants are popular FGC members including a guy who placed 3rd at Evo at SF. That's more than enough proof that they are pushing this to the competitive market as well as casual.

Brawl became competitive despite trying hard to be more casual. It's going to be whatever the community makes of it just like brawl.

And we've already seen stages for both of those characters and considering how they are among Sony's most popular icons, I'd say they are both pretty much confirmed.
