How come sometimes i can't save a replay and sometimes i can?

It's so weird, Sometimes at the end of a match i can save a replay and sometimes i can't as it has a red sign on it.

What causes this? It can't be random.

It is not random. There is a three-minute maximum for replays to be able to be saved by default. You can bypass this if you are running hacks that allow you to do so.
