How close does the 3ds version play to the WiiU one?

If someone tried the demo, could you please list the differences that you noticed, or is it mostly the same?

I doubt it, the system feels great for any game, i don't see why smash would be any different.

It feels a little slower overall. Not a big change, but it didn't feel as fast as the Wii U version. When I played the Wii U version with Mario and Samus, I could tell it was a lot faster. You fell faster, for one. It was just overall. It's not just the falling speed. It was easier to get use to it after Brawl compared to the Wii U version.

I've heard some good things about Smash 3DS from YouTube, so it seems to be doing pretty well.

It'll take a bit to get used to, but it'll work fine once people get used to it.

I expected the 3ds's gameplay to be identical to the Wii U, but now that I think of it, there's inevitably going to be some differences right? Maybe some ATs or mechanics will be slightly different. It wouldn't be very hard to adapt to the other system if you play one and want to compete on the other, but it would be so cool if it's exactly the same.

It will be the exact same thing, with different controls obviously. Both versions are the same game in essence.

Yeah, the final product should be exactly the same. I wasn't able to play the demo for myself, so I just speculate that the feeling of being slower/floatier was kind of just in people's heads. Not used to playing on a handheld, not used to the controls, but idk, I'm just talking. From what I've seen on Youtube, things seem pretty fine to me.

But whether or not the demo for the 3DS version truly had a different feel, I'm holding on to the belief that in the end, the games will play out the same way.

I only got to do SmashRun once at the Best Buy I went to (Chino did not prepare properly for Wednesday) so I didn't really have much time to do anything except figure out the controls.. Biggest thing throwing me off was the button placement (i got used to it within the span of 5 minutes but still) otherwise.. I walked in apprehensive about the 3DS release, worried that the final product wouldn't match the boasted previews (as has happened before *cough* Watchdogs *cough*) but I couldn't have been happier..

the framerate is gorgeous, it feels smooth as butter. Personally I think they nailed it, this will definitely suffice as a "on-the-go" training center or possibly in time it's own competitive atmosphere, you never know.

To be fair, both demo versions weren't exactly the same, there were bound to be some technical differences as well as balance differences, while both products may seem different presently, they will undoubtedly be the same in the final releases.

It's supposed to be exactly the same mechanics. But Ragnarok has me wondering, technically they're supposed to be the same but perhaps ATs could vary. They're coded to be the same, but are they the same coding? In Melee and Brawl many Advanced Techniques were actually glitches. But if the coding is still different does that mean that one advanced technique may work on one and not the other? If Advanced Techniques are the same in the final versions of both games then that means either the coding is similar enough to produce the same glitches, or the ATs in both games were actually implemented in secret waiting to be discovered.

Interesting point. I am not good with this technical stuff, but wouldn't the coding have to be different, the same way a game that is in both PS3 and 360 have different coding due to hardware differences between the two platforms? Maybe the two versions will be different in some more technical ways, in the end, like you suggest.

Personally, I thought the 3ds felt more natural than the Wii U, if that makes any sense. Like I already knew what I was doing, even though I had never touched the game before. I didn't get that feeling with the Wii U.
