my problem with greninja is I jump too much and then I go above my enemy. Then I down-air, and cancel lag with shadow sneak. The problem is, after 2 or 3 times it doesn't work anymore, because my enemy knows that I am going to do it. So are there any other options to approach when I'm in the air? It seems like I jump way too much. I just don't feel too safe when I'm in the ground. If there is a way to safely approach from the ground it would be awesome.

Next time, try asking questions here: http://smashboards.com/threads/tips-answers-from-a-passing-ninja-greninja-q-a-thread.368763/page-3

Helps keep the subforum from being cluttered by having questions in one thread.

As for your specific question, approaching with down air is an awful thing to rely on. If you miss, it has way too much ending lag. Even canceling the down air with a shadow sneak isn't great as the shadow sneak can also be easily punished. If you want to approach from the air, try doing short hopped neutral airs or reversed back airs. As for approaching on the ground, Greninja doesn't have reliable ground approaches he can make use of. Chasing after fully charged shurikens and going for grabs works, but it can become predictable as well. The best thing to do is to make your approaches less predictable and less punishable by not relying on one specific thing but instead mixing it up when you can.
