How are we going to find and share the best stages ?

Well some people will have friends who don't play Brawl so you'll only be getting one map per day.
I thought of something to solve this problem...
Using an SD Card reader, you could upload stages onto your PC and then onto a site where everyone could download them and put them onto SD Cards to play.

Obviously it would have people who would make sure we wouldn't get stages full of swears and there could be a "Stage of the Week," which would be able to get voted on from the community.

I've made a blog which will have a forum soon, have Dojo updates, rumors and when we get the game, everything I listed above.

Any ideas for other things we could do ?
I want this to be successful and just make everything easier for Smashers.

I think pretty much all of us had the same idea with the whole "uploading stages and sharing them". Thing is, how do we organize it? A forum section devoted to people uploading their stages, with screenshots and such, might be in order. Perhaps even an index, if someone is willing to leg up that amount of work? Differentiating among large, medium, and small stages, and giving a small reference (amount of hazards, valid for tourney-style matches, walk-off or not...) should be enough to get things working.

I've got a lot of free time apart from homework so I could get it all done...
But if others want to help, then feel free to.

Do like what our parents did when they see something they liked:

Memorize it. lol

Seriously, if you're able to get a few view of the stage, either memorize it, or draw it on a piece of paper. If you're in a middle of an intense battle and pasuing isn't the way to go, after you get K.O.d draw as much of the stage as you can before your character leaves the reviving platform on its own.

That isn't the point though...
It's for people who think they made a good stage to upload it onto the site for others to download.

My prediction is that there will be a notation system made up (if we can't just upload stages) and several official custom stages that will be tournament standard handed down from MLG like Moses' tablets from Sinai. Of course regular stages like Battlefield, Kanto, etc will be tournament standard, but I'm envisioning several officially-defined custom stages.

And not everyone has that fancy technology on their computer. I don't.

Heck, I'll draw up the stage for a day thing and then upload it here using that image site place. It's fun and I'll have nothing else better to do. That way, the people who can't download it off a computer can at least add themselves manually. And if they want, they could add/take out any small feature they want.

Sometimes, the old fashion way is the best way. :)

Bwuh? What fancy technology? The only thing you'd need to upload and download stages is an USB SD adapter, and those are running at what, 10 bucks? I got one for free with the last MicroSD carts I bought, even! Well, you need that and an internet connection, but since you're posting here, I assume you have one of those :p

Though you do have a point with the whole "adding stuff". Having the blueprints of the scenarios is always useful.

SD card sharing sounds pretty fun.

Remeber you can also send emails to wiis (friendcode@wii.com... or something liek that). Im not sure wether you can send attactch ments like normal e-mails to a wii, but if so you could send them from computers to stright to peoples wiis.

Will if (and thats big if) it works that way.
Somewhere on your forum you could have a huge sign up thread. Or you could get on of those forms up somewhere. Then just copy the list when ever they are being sent out.

something I noticed.... they hav e a parts remaining bar at the top. This doesn't bode well for me, cause any editor I've ever used with limitations on parts NEVER allows you enough parts.

Digital cameras come with USB connectors, so if you have one of those, you can transfer files to and from SD<-->computer

SWF will probably have a section devoted to creating stages, but they should have some set requirements:

1. Thread title should be the title of the map.
2. Thread body should include a description of the stage and at least 1 screenshot
3. If there are inappropriate stages (or just really pointless joke stages), the mods can lock the topic.

If you don't own a website you can always use MegaUpload to upload the stages for people to download to their SD cards. SD card readers are cheap (between $10 to $20). It shouldn't be a problem.

when I was building my computer I put in a card reader specifically because I suspected something like this would be implemented... anyways, I'm sure we'll have a sticky or even a whole new forum for custom stages, maybe even stickies for tournament approved custom stages.

Well, what about there is a thread where you can just link your stages (along with a screenshot, preferably.) from "MegaUpload" or whatever you use, and we could just download them and rate them ourselves? Then the topic creator could just place the highest rated ones in the top post?

Sounds like someone would have to be devoted to the thread, but it could work out.

BTW, any inappropriate stages would be marked with whatever infraction points it is for pr0n.

I've got staff from Official Nintendo Magazine Forum and we're going to have constant updates when we need them.

The forum will have different forums on it for users to post all of they're stages but they need approval from an Admin first.

Each member on my forum gets their own forum and can put their stages on it though...
*sigh* like i said. When they put there stages on there they will need to upload them right? Well they will need to upload on some sort of site and most likely downloaders will have to wait. I see you did not read my post above. Anyways no need to argue because i'l just get infractions.

Hmm... are you using "freewebs" or something, or are you making it from scratch? If so, I wouldn't mind helping. But I'd have to work on my HTML.
Lol not at all. I'm doing this all by HTML

I did read your post.
To be honest, it all really depends on the ammount of memory stages are...
If they aren't a lot, then I can host them directly.

I bet the tourney organizer is just going to post their stages on teh intrawebz.

I mean, smashers are obligated to bring their own controllers, and semi-obligated to own their own Wiis and games. An SD card and a card reader aren't too much of a sacrifice for that.

p.s. If you can afford to enter a tournament, you can afford to get a cheap card and a reader.

A stage-sharing system is already in the works to service the Smashboards community. Regardless, I'm sure other stage-sharing systems are already being built as well. XD
