I was playing for glory, and I met this player who think he is big and ****, he start to play different character each match, and this one match he played link, and I loses to him, even though all he did is spam arrows and bommaranges, and then I switched to link to have a link didtto. And I lose to him, horribly. I couldn't even approach, even though all he is doing spam projectiles, and I'm doing all the Z- air and bombs, and all the spacing, but I still couldn't hit him. And each time he won, he taunts at me, even though he clearly have no idea what he's doing. This had happened to me a lot on for glory, and I really don't know how to deal with it. Every time, it always end with me throwing my controller on the ground, and getting salty for the rest of the day.

Some people, like me, cycle through their mains on For Glory. And the very fact that he beat you with each character proves that he was good. How often do you play Link, because using an unfamiliar character almost guarantees a loss. If it was just this one player, then he's better than you. If you loose constantly than you need to explain what you're doing, not what others do. Also I'm pretty sure he was trolling you by projectile spamming if Link was only used in the last few rounds.

He didn't beat me with each character though... He only manage to beat me half of the time when I was using marth, and when I switched to link and link ditto him. I've played this guy for more than 10 rounds, and he didn't use a aerial attack once, nor does he know how to recover. He also spams rolls. I think I'm just salty, and turned impatient, that's why I lose to him. Also,I couldn't get use to the clunky controls, so I couldn't tech right, and punish when he roll behind me, that's why I like brawl better, cause the control felt a lot smoother, and most characters doesn't have awkward hitboxes, and so much landing lags with their aerials.

Getting to grips your your anger and remaining calm is a good starting point. I'm not being facetious when I say that, it's genuinely a good state to be in when playing anything competitively.

The same old adage applies here as it does whenever the topic of spamming cheap moves and constantly struggling to beat other players emerges: adapt. Figure out what they're doing and defeat it. If they spam cheap moves, you figure out their pattern and show them what's what; if you keep losing no matter what you do, revise your own strategies and find better tactics. Even the harshest defeat is a lesson unto itself - always strive to learn and figure out new things, because if you're able to adapt and play the best game you can in any given situation, you're going to become a better player and appreciate the experience all the more so.

Problem is he is constantly switching characters, and he kept rolling behind or dash and grab, and I couldn't punish since the control is so stiff and the lags so bad, means he'll almost grantee to escape. And, you have to consider the fact that I'm using characters I'm not used to. But you are right, the salt is the main reason I'm losing so bad.

Then adapt to multiple characters. Believe me, there are matchups I dread to fight, but you have to just swallow your pride and fight on anyway.

If you're losing with characters you're not used to, get better with those characters. Quite honestly, getting so het up about losing in the first place is a surefire way to get sloppy and make mistakes, so just take a few deep breaths and if it still isn't fun, play somebody else. Nobody will judge you for that. Just have fun and play your game.

You are right, it's good to keep a positive attitude, but the problem is most players on for glory constantly roll behinds you and grab, and I have trouble punishing them due to the controls, and the lag online. Shields and rolls are too good in this game. And it's also really difficult to deal with projectile campers since the only stage available is FD, it made for me a really uneven MUs.

That is a good advice, but sadly it is a lot easier said than done.

Stages with platforms also make "uneven MUs". Just saying.

Japanese pro players only play in Final Destination. If they can play in FD, we sure can too.

True that, my friend, true that. My routine usually consists of taking a few deep breaths before every match and reminding myself that my opponent is probably also just trying to have fun.

If it helps at all, I like to do something like crouching repeatedly or doing something else equally silly at the start of a match. If my opponent responds likewise, I know it's going to be fun regardless~

I'm pretty sure that Japanese players play on more than just FD, also, in a competitive match, it's generally more even to play on stages like BF or Smashville, and you can counterpick to a stage you like if you think this stage gives a really bad advantage to your characters. But in For Glory mode, the only avaliable stage is FD.

To be fair they only play with customs on too and think Wario is still top tier.

As controversial as it is (and I'm sure a flame war will be started based on me saying this), FD has the most even match ups in Smash 4 and anything else like BF or Smashville skews matchups far more. Smash 4 was balanced around FD. There are no "projectile spammers" in competitive Smash 4 because there's no SHDL from Falco anymore. How often do you see projectile spammers winning tournaments on FD? Never. If you have trouble dealing with projectiles, work on perfect shielding.

And I play Ike just as much as Link so I know the feel and can still safely say FD is most balanced for Smash 4.

To OP: you need to adjust to Smash 4. While I agree shields and rolling ect. just feel worse from Brawl, we have to adjust. The timings on everything are different. Adjusting to laggy matches is definitely difficult but not as bad as it was in Brawl. I suggest you stop playing multiple characters and pick one then get really good with it to help you make the transition from Brawl. Then work on others one at a time. A lot of what was good in Brawl is bad now and what was bad is good now. You'll have to learn each character all over again and find new combos, mix ups, ect..
