Hosting a server

For my tourney I wanted to host my own server for 1 day, now that I know how to forward ports. I used the program from Emulinker (www.emulinker.org), and everything worked fine and I understand everything (it's really easy) but the only problem is: everyone has 1000+ ping for that server, even myself (except when I connect to 127.0.0.1 then the ping is 0 for me as it should). It also shows up with 1000+ ping in the master server's list. This means no one can connect, and even if they could they couldn't play normally. Does anyone know the solution to this?

Yes that was because I asked him to and gave him the link in the post above lol. He used hamachi, don't know if that makes a difference, but I want to host a server without hamachi.

It depends, how good is your internet/computer? I had the same problem myself.

Hamachi would kinda make that everyone's comp at once, MAYBE. But, if everyone was required to have Hamachi, no point in having a server in the first place.

Perhaps make one computer a dedicated server for it, and go on with another computer...meh, I dunno.

Everyone is connecting to your computer, so unless your computer is good enough to handle all those players at once then they'll have high ping.

You should get a dedicated server for it.

yeah, its pretty poinless since Europe has several servers with very few users

Well I didn't want to bother with a dedicated server, as it's only for one event, and I didn't want to do it with hamachi because, like Superstar says, there's no point. But thanks for the replies anyway.
