Holding L in mid air as Lucario

So while I was messing around with Lucario I noticed that If you hold down L(Block) in mid air and do a neutral B, he will cancel it on the earliest possible frame. This of course only works in the air because on the ground he would block. I was wondering if this was a method people use to do aerial combos with less button presses, of if I should be pressing B every time as to keep consistency between being in the air and on the ground.

This is a pretty good find. Tested it out and it checks out.
It can be succesfully done consistantly by pressing your attack and L/R at the same time, then pressing b whilst still holding your specified shield button.

I don't think he does, he uses the regular B--> L/R method

Though it's gonna be difficult putting that to muscle memory
