Hmm.. could unlocking characters on the 3DS version lead to unlocking them earlier on the Wii U?

Remember during the Direct Sakurai mentioned connectivity between the 2 systems? What if this is what he means. Unlock the characters on the 3DS version and have them unlock earlier on the Wii U.

i hope so. it would be really silly to unlock everyone on the 3ds version and then turn around and have to do the same things all over again on the wii u version months later.

Can def see this as a connectivity feature, would also seem to me that the rest of the game would be pretty incredible if this was true, I mean unlocking characters is a huge part of Smash

Hopefully we don't have to wait to long to learn about this feature.

The problem with this is that it kind of reduces the play time of the Wii U version then.

I think the option should be there, but I think I'd opt to unlock them again. Get the full money out of my second purchase.

Or perhaps one character will only be unlocked on both versions simultaneously if a 3DS version and a Wii U version connect. Seems kind of cheap (like Pokemon Generation III cheap), but it's a really nice reward for people who get both versions.

I hope you don't unlock characters the same way in both versions. I love unlocking characters, and I'd want to do it twice, but probably only if they had different methods of unlocking them. If not, then I think it would be a good idea to have them pre-unlocked through the 3DS.

I would LOVE for one or two characters to remain solely unlockable by purchasing both games. It would mean that the Wii U could remain a viable system seller, not to mention allow for an aspect of freshness for the Wii U version, which would have wained somewhat amongst casual players who have played the 3DS version for months and see no reason to buy the Wii U version. Fantastic idea.

Edit: I agree some might consider it 'cheap', but it would also give the casuals a real reason to return to the game months later when perhaps some would not, considering that new characters would then be available that nobody so far had been able to play. Of course, the characters would have to be unlocked in both versions of the game upon buying the Wii U version.

I hope so, I plan on getting the 3ds edition day 1 as well as the Wii u edition later.

It's not unreasonable to ask all my work transfers over, it wouldn't be the first game to do this right?
