Is there a difference in hitlag when you hit a shield instead of a normal hitbox? Also, do other hitboxes like the shy guys add the same amount of hitlag? Thanks.

Only if the hitbox is electrical. Electrical hits do 150% hitlag on hit, but only 100% hitlag on shield.
This only applies to the target. Attacker hitlag always stays at 100%.

Shy guys add the same amount of hitlag as hitting an opponent, but if you happen to hit a few of them, the hitlag can add up (if your attack doesn’t connect with all of them simultaneously).

Thanks, but that raises another question, if hitting multiple hitboxes causes an increase in hitlag, is there an equation that determines it?

It doesn’t work like that. Let’s say your attack causes 6 frames of hitlag. You connect with one shy guy. If on the fifth frame of hitlag another shy guy flys into your hitbox, hitlag will start again, so you’ll have a total of 11 frames hitlag. The upper limit is (amount of shy guys)*(attack’s base hitlag). The lower limit is (attack’s base hitlag). If you hit four shy guys at the same time, you still only have 6 frames of hitlag.

To clarify, this only applies to the victim (Right?). So if you're worrying about timings on shield or hit, they're always the same for the attacker, as opposed to whiffing.

Also crouching reduces victim hitlag by 1/3.
