Welcome to High Tide Smash! We are a community of smashers in Southern Maryland ranging from casual to serious. We have held weekly Tuesday tournaments since April 2015!

Our usual format is 1v1 3 times a month and 2v2 once a month. Check if it's doubles this week on our Facebook page at the bottom.

Casuals and tournament sign-ups start at 5:00pm. Tournament starts at 6:30pm, usually ends by 8:30-9:00pm.
Venue Fee: None
Tournament Fee: $5.00

RULES:
- 2 stocks, 6 minutes, match is best of 3 games, double elimination
- For Doubles: 3 stocks, 8 minutes, match is best of 3 games, double elimination, Team Attack ON
- No items, no Amiibos, Customs OFF, only current patch version used (currently 1.1.6)
- All official Nintendo controllers are allowed (Gamecube controller or Wii U Pro Controller recommended)
- Mii characters legal, default only, 1111 Move set

Prizes: Top 4, 6, or 8 depending on attendance (100% store credit**, or 60% cash).

Stage selection below:

Starters:
Battlefield [*Miiverse]
Lylat Cruise
Final Destination [*Omegas]
Smashville
Town & City

Counterpicks:
Dreamland 64
Duck Hunt

* If Battlefield is banned, Miiverse is banned. The stages are treated as identical. Same applies for Final Destination and Omega stages.
Gentleman’s Clause: Any stage can be selected as long as all players agree to it.

Stage striking: For the first game of a set, players use Rock-Paper-Scissors to determine who strikes first. Winner bans a stage, loser bans two stages, winner bans one stage (1-2-1).

Stage bans: After the first game of a set, the winner bans one stage. The loser then selects a stage. Winner selects their character. Loser selects their character. A player cannot select a stage they have previously won one during the set (unless agreed to by the Gentleman’s Clause).

SDs: Winner is determined by the results screen.

Timeouts: Winner is determined by who has more stocks, then by who has less percent. In the event of a tie, a one-stock no time limit tiebreaker game will be played.

**Miscellaneous info: Smash at High Tides is hosted at a local community board game/card shop. Typical attendance has varied from twelve to forty people with a range of casual to serious players. We have been visited by big MD/VA names such as Boss, Oco | Mik! And Le Troof. Also High Tide Games is in a shopping plaza, so you are surrounded by good food (Mission BBQ, Thai Inter, Teariffic to name a few). The tournament is meant to support the store as well as the players. This means that the prizes are typically store credit or a 40% cut if you take cash (i.e. if 1st place won $50, they can choose between $50 in store credit or $30 in cash). Keep in mind High Tide sells Magic cards, Yugioh, and Pokemon products plus board games, collectibles, gaming supplies and accessories, so store credit is really as good as cash!

Please bring a set-up if you can! There’s no discount for bringing a set-up but more set-ups = more games = more fun. If you have any questions please ask us here or in a comment on the Facebook page (link below). See you all there!
