If your issue with reading opponents is lack of learning then I have a great tip that could help. Keep your eyes on them rather than your character. I know this may sound obvious, but until I really put my brain around it I never truly focused on the enemy. If you hone your mind on them you can learn them, and you will be better with your character naturally by getting used to doing moves without focusing on yourself.
