Hi everyone,

With the new Smash coming out I decided to see what this forum's all about and learn more about the series. I played Smash Bros 64 most and Brawl a lot when it was released, but haven't played much at all in quite a few years.

My main question is should I prepare for Smash Wii U by playing Brawl, Melee, Project M, or all at the same time and will most the advanced techniques carry over? I normally play with Samus and sometimes Falco in Brawl, but I will like try some other characters like Zero Suit and Greninja.

I don't expect to be very competitive due to the time commitment and I love playing a wide variety of games from SNES to current gen, but I'd still like to be fairly respectable at the game :) Thanks in advance and I'm glad to join the community!

Hello and welcome to SWF Ludwig!

In my suggestion, I would recommend Brawl as Smash 4 seems to have more mechanics of Brawl than say Melee/PM but playing all 3 is the most fun way to go.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Enjoy your stay and remember to praise our lord and savior, Emperor Superman.

Welcome to Smashboards Ludwig (favorite among the Koopalings by the way) :)

Smash 4 will feel like it's own game, so no particular Smash will best prepare you for it (arguably Brawl though, Smash 4 is just looking to be faster). I suggest just making sure you have the basics of Smash down in general, and you can get that from every Smash game, so play them all if you're up for it. You can find some things to refresh on or learn in this guide.

Other than that, have a great time around the forums, practice as much as you can with human opponents, and you'll be ready for Smash 4!
